中国和联合国儿童基金会远程教育项目是中国政府和联合国儿童基金会合作开展的西部贫困地区扶贫项目。项目5年为一个周期，今年是2001至2005年周期的最后一年。项目在本周期覆盖西部12个省18个国家级贫困县的180所小学.项目的总体目标是在西部的欠发达地区和少数民族地区，运用信息技术针对教师和学生开展远程教育试点项目，并将通过以下策略提高教学质量和建设爱生的课堂：通过在多媒体资源应用和IP卫星接收技术方面的能力建设、通过开发有关优秀课堂教学实践案例和创新性教学方面的电子版和印刷版的相关文件、通过开展远程合作学习方面的行动研究，从而提高课堂互动、通过开发适合学生使用的有关生活技能方面的多媒体教学资源、通过监测项目实施过程和加强项目的数据库建设等。项目从2006年开始将进入下一个5年的周期。
Project Introduction English
China-UNICEF Distance Education Project is a poverty alleviation project for western China cooperated by China’s government and UNICEF. As one project cycle includes 5 years, this year is the final year of the 2001 to 2005 project cycle. The project covers 18 national level poverty-stricken counties of 12 western project provinces. There are all together 180 project primary schools. The main objective of the project is to pilot the acceleration of distance learning approaches through ICT for teachers and students in disadvantaged and minority areas of western China. Also, in order to improve the quality of teaching and learning and to establish child-friendly classroom, following strategies will be adopted: through capacity building on multimedia resource application and IP satellite receiving skills; through development of e-version and printed materials of good classroom instruction cases and innovative instruction; through action research on tele-collaborative learning in order to achieve interactivity of classroom teaching; through development of multimedia resources on life skills which are suitable for students’ usage; through process monitoring and database establishment; and so forth. The project will be start a new round 5-year cycle from the year of 2006.
